Our Clients goal was to extend the lifespan of their aging 54” cooling tower return line, originally installed over 50 years ago, by relining it with a durable structural liner. To avoid a full system shutdown, our role was to install a 36” hot-tap and 30” bypass line, enabling our client to proceed with the relining while maintaining operations and avoiding a total outage.

Key tasks:

  • Construct temporary bypass support structure.
  • Install permanent steel rigging framework.
  • Integrate a 54”x36” CAM flange branch tee.
  • Install 2” equalization fittings.
  • Set up and remove a 36” tapping/plugging tool.
  • Install a 12” bypass for XLR Hotwell 6.
  • Modify the 54” mainline.
  • Install a 34” HDPE and 30” carbon steel bypass line.
  • Add a tee and blank on CT1’s 30” distribution line.
  • Excavate and install a 36” manway south of the plant on the 54” line.
  • Cut a 36” manway opening in the 54” pipe.
  • Remove and reinstall CT3’s 30” distribution line and valve
